Future STEM Leaders strive to provide information/education about the opportunities that seem like a far reach in underprivileged countries. FSL recently met with students from Mirpur Bangla High School and College located in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Our team spoke about the importance of STEM in our world as well as the experience needed to advance in the field. We specifically emphasized the importance of diversity and women’s inclusion in STEM.

Our team believes that there is great importance in highlighting great women in our history. Icons like Rosalind Franklin and Elizabeth Blackwell planted the seeds of opportunity for us so that we can pick the flowers. The information session spotlighted that women in STEM are a rare commodity and that STEM needs to be more inclusive in the future.

Students that joined the information session showed a great interest in computer science, thus/so we made it our job to include resources that have lessons on coding as well as international scholarships that they can apply to.

Future STEM Leaders hope that this brief information session could have changed the course of someone’s life in an underprivileged country such as Bangladesh. The simplest of information could allow students to create opportunities for themselves and allow them to live a successful life.
