FSL plants trees at Idlewild Park

APRIL 2021

On April 24th, the Future STEM Leaders team had the privilege of volunteering to plant trees at Idlewood Park. This NYC public park aims to plant over 1,000 plants and shrubs in the field. Notable organizations such as the Stewardship Team and the Eastern Queens Alliance are affiliated with this cause; their members educated us on proper tree planting techniques. Both organizations pride themselves on having a sustainable focus and being a helping hand for their community.

The FSL team was able to support the Park’s plan of renovating their vacant land by planting over 40 Staghorn Sumacs trees as well as other shrubs. This is a great representation of Future STEM Leaders and our promise to actively work toward change. We have a genuine team that is advocating for our community, and we hope that we can spread the message on sustainability and environmental awareness.
