FEBRUARY 2021 ISSUE No. 3

Everything has come to a sudden stop during this pandemic. Schools, restaurants, and businesses were put to an abrupt halt with a sudden lockdown.

Several front- line workers, especially health care workers, have been put to the test due to the national risk at hand. An anonymous source has brought her story to Future STEM Leaders to bring awareness to the dehumanizing circumstances that she has been put in.

She is an EMT worker that has been working during the pandemic to provide relief to people who have been affected.

“I was exhausted working over 70 hours a week at least during the pandemic. My call my shifts are usually 10 hours shifts,”

our source tells us. She often had to go to work earlier and leave later due to the pressure put on EMT workers.

Along with the tiring hours, she is currently protecting her family by staying away from her parents.

On one of her rough nights, our source tells us the restraints put on her and how she desperately wanted to be near her mother.

"I just started crying. And she couldn't even hold me."

This EMT worker has been risking her life and there is still the misconception that the biggest issue that a healthcare worker faces is the risk of testing positive.

It is a much greater problem that goes beyond their physical well beings.

There has been a massive upheaval in the lives of Health care workers.

Pain lingers around them and it is a wound to the strong men and women that fight for our health but risks their own.
